Overview
USA TODAY Entertainment is seeking a Style & Beauty Reporter to cover the trends, personalities, and cultural conversations shaping fashion and beauty in the entertainment world. From red carpet looks and celebrity beauty launches to viral style moments and industry shifts, you’ll deliver smart, engaging coverage that connects with readers and sparks conversation.
The ideal candidate has strong contacts in the style and beauty space, a sharp cultural eye for commentary, and strong writing skills. This is a high-impact role for someone who can combine reporting chops with creativity and trend awareness.
What You’ll Do:
• Own the style and beauty beat. Report on fashion and beauty trends tied to entertainment, including celebrity style, influencer-driven aesthetics, and industry news.
• Spot and shape stories early. Identify emerging trends and cultural moments before they hit mainstream; pitch and execute timely, distinctive angles. Explore emerging tools and technologies—including AI—to enhance workflows and storytelling.
• Deliver compelling coverage. Write quick-turn stories, in-depth features, and commentary that blends reporting with cultural insight.
• Leverage industry relationships. Build and maintain contacts among stylists, designers, beauty brands, influencers, and publicists to secure access and exclusives.
• Collaborate across platforms. Work with photo, video, and social teams to create visually rich packages and amplify coverage on social media.
• Engage audiences. Use analytics and trend signals to inform coverage decisions and maximize reach.
What You’ll Bring:
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in entertainment, fashion, or lifestyle journalism.
• Expertise: Strong understanding of style and beauty trends, especially as they intersect with entertainment and pop culture.
• Skills: Exceptional writing and reporting ability; sharp cultural perspective; ability to craft stories that resonate across platforms.
• Network: Established contacts in the style and beauty industry.
• Social fluency: Comfortable using social platforms for sourcing and actively participating in coverage amplification.
• Traits: Self-starter, creative, organized, and passionate about shaping this beat for USA TODAY.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $60,000 and $93,750. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
