The Assistant Maintenance Manager plays a key role in supporting the overall operation, safety, and upkeep of the property. This position works closely with the Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance activities, ensure preventative maintenance programs are executed effectively, and maintain high standards across guest rooms, common areas, and mechanical systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of leading a team while maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have a valid Drivers' License and own vehicle.
• High school diploma/GED.
• 2 years of maintenance experience.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in the operation and maintenance of buildings.
• Overtime as required.
DUTIES:
• Support the Maintenance Manager in overseeing daily operations of the maintenance department.
• Supervise and coordinate maintenance team members, contractors, and vendors.
• Assist with scheduling preventative maintenance programs (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, boilers, elevators, fire systems, etc.).
• Respond to and prioritize guest room and public area maintenance requests.
• Ensure timely completion of work orders through the property management or maintenance tracking system.
• Conduct regular inspections of guest suites, mechanical rooms, common areas, and back-of-house spaces.
• Assist in managing capital projects, renovations, and equipment upgrades.
• Monitor building systems performance and escalate issues as required.
• Ensure compliance with WorkSafe, safety regulations, and building codes.
• Support emergency response procedures (after-hours call-outs, system failures, weather events).
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inventory records, and service documentation.
• Assist with budgeting, cost control, and procurement of parts and supplies.
• Train and mentor maintenance team members on procedures and safety standards.
• Coordinate with Front Office, Housekeeping, and other departments to minimize guest disruption.
• Ensure all tools, equipment, and mechanical spaces are kept organized and in safe working condition.
APPLICABLE SKILLS:
• Ability to perform small repairs
• Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels.
• Must be familiar with cleaning products.
• Strong customer service orientation and skills.
• Interact with management, co-workers, and public.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of 25 pounds.
• Must have or be prepared to take Pool Operator's Course provided by AHS.
