Description
The Director, Family Office Investments is a senior leadership role responsible for setting the strategic direction for portfolio management, building and maintaining the investment framework, articulating the investment philosophy publicly, and serving as the thought leader for portfolio construction for the Family Office division. A key focus will be expanding private markets capabilities through deep industry knowledge and strategic relationships.
This role combines strategic oversight, public representation, and technical expertise in private markets investing, ensuring our investment approach remains innovative, competitive, and aligned with client objectives.
Requirements
Strategic Portfolio Framework
- Define and maintain the Division’s investment philosophy, investment strategy, and portfolio construction framework.
- Develop asset allocation models and risk management guidelines for all client segments.
- Oversee integration of public and private market strategies into client portfolios.
- Ensure alignment of investment strategy with regulatory, fiduciary, and client objectives.
- Continuously evaluate and enhance portfolio construction methodologies to reflect evolving market conditions and client needs.
- Champion innovation in investment solutions while maintaining alignment with biblical financial principles.
Thought Leadership & Public Representation
- Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert for family office clients.
- Serve as the public face of the Division’s investment strategy in client meetings, industry conferences, and media engagements.
- Communicate market outlook, portfolio strategy, and private market opportunities to family office clients and prospects.
- Develop and deliver high-impact presentations for internal and external audiences to reinforce the firm’s expertise.
Private Markets Expertise
- Lead the development of private market investment capabilities, including sourcing, due diligence, and manager selection.
- Maintain and leverage a strong network of relationships with private equity, private credit, venture capital, and alternative investment managers.
- Identify and evaluate co-investment and direct investment opportunities for family office clients.
Values-Aligned Investments Expertise
- Lead in the communications, build out, and implementation of values-aligned investment offerings in both public markets and private markets.
- Bring and build a network of third-party implementers and thought leaders who are seeking to shape culture through investment portfolios.
- Seek to build the Blue Trust Family Office into a values-aligned investment allocator, at scale.
- Maintain a consistent message with the firm’s Investment Strategy Group (ISG) around the Principles Based Investing framework, which is how the firm applies Biblical principles to investment decisions.
Collaboration & Oversight
- Partner with the ISG in portfolio management and to conduct research to implement strategic direction that fosters a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
- Provide guidance on tactical adjustments during market dislocations, strategic shifts, and quarterly rebalances.
- Act as a resource for advisors and relationship managers on complex investment questions.
- Train and equip family office advisors on various investment topics.
Governance & Compliance
- Serve on investment committees and subcommittees as requested within Blue Trust.
- Ensure adherence to fiduciary standards and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to risk management and oversight processes.
- Maintains the highest compliance standards by following firm policies and industry regulations.
Key Deliverables
- Works with the ISG to build and utilize model portfolios across family office clientele.
- Provides client-facing content, such as quarterly outlook, that is unique and relatable to family office clientele.
- Regularly provides Investment Committee memos, when needed, to internal team members and external clients.
- Actively creates Investment Policy Statements (IPS) for family office clientele.
- Actively coordinates and monitors the roster of alternative asset managers.
- Maintains due diligence templates for the various asset managers selected.

Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of global markets, portfolio construction, and alternative investments
- Proven expertise in private markets investing (private equity, private credit, real assets)
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate complex strategies clearly
- Established network within private markets and alternative investment industry
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives and influence at the executive level
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, client-first environment
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Personal integrity and ability to handle confidential data discreetly
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of those portions of both the old and new testaments of the Bible with scriptural references to money and finances, and ability to apply and integrate this knowledge into all phases of client counsel

Education, Experience & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in finance, economics, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 10+ years in investment strategy, portfolio management, or private markets
- Experience working with Ultra High-Net-Worth (UHNW) clients or within a Family Office environment strongly preferred
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations:
- CFA designation strongly preferred, CAIA or MBA a plus
