The LL6 Test Technology & Database Control Leader is a people leader role overseeing a small team of engineers. This team is responsible for ensuring Ford's environmental testing, including chassis roll dynamometer, powertrain, and engine dynamometer testing, complies with global regulations such as EPA, CARB, and EU. The leader will frequently interact with government agency officials and internal Ford testing departments, and also supervise the IT systems used for calculating and transmitting official test results to agencies.
What you'll do...
- Lead engineering team responsible for interpreting regulatory requirements, developing test procedures, and evaluating test equipment required for environmental compliance testing.
- Provide insight and regulatory interpretation on requirements for testing future Ford global products for emissions and fuel economy (FE)/Greenhouse Gas (GHG) compliance.
- Oversee IT/database systems for the E&SC vehicle emissions/fuel economy (FE) certification activities. Functionally lead engineers responsible for IT transactions with agency IT systems. As required, provide guidance to IT organization on required updates.
- Lead special studies to evaluate new emissions measurement processes and/or new test equipment. Work closely with VEV to ensure laboratory compliance with new regulatory requirements and to support electrification plans.
- Work closely with global emissions laboratory partners to support on-site and remote facility assessments and sign-offs. Duties include understanding laboratory upgrade plans, supporting facility assessments/sign-offs, and driving identified facility issues to closure.
- Functionally lead engineer responsible for dedicated Sharepoint sites for E&SC vehicle emission/FE certification activities.
- Support and manage creation and administration of global Emissions Laboratory Requirements (ELRs) and Test Methods for emissions/FE testing.
- Collaborate with VEV on identifying and resolving testing issues related to first-time-through testing success.

- Bachelor’s degree in engineering related field
- 4 years of working experience in test technology and database controls or a similar field
Even better, you may have...
- Understanding of regulatory requirements related to emissions / fuel economy testing desired
- Familiarity with emissions test equipment and emissions testing operations desired
- Familiarity with common automation and analysis tools (e.g. Excel Macros, Mini-Tab, Alteryx, AI) and IT systems development process desired
- Experience managing complex projects and familiarity with Project Management tools
- Strong technical and oral communication skills including development of management presentations
- Understanding of statistical concepts and techniques desired
- Ability to interact effectively with senior management and other organizations including government agencies
- Self-starter, ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision and strong record of delivering results

- This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $112,680-212,760.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
