The Role

Loads and unloads log trucks, fills log decks, and prioritizes logs to feed to the mill.

Responsibilities

• Operates a Log yard Machinery to unload and load log trucks 
• Provides logs to the shovel operator
• Operates the shovel to feed the mill
• Records and collects appropriate paperwork to document log inventory and location
• Inspects equipment before and after use, applying oil when necessary
• Operates the loader and/or dump truck to maintain and/or repair the log yard
• Climbs in and out of the machinery using vertical ladders
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

Qualifications

• 1 year experience shovel operator and experience operating a Letourneau 
• Minimum age of 18 
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
• This position is classified as “safety-sensitive,” meaning that an accident in this role could result in loss of life, serious bodily injury, or significant damage to property or the environment, as such candidates will be subject to comprehensive pre-employment drug screening, inclusive of marijuana (THC).

This role may operate in a professional office, log yards, sawmill, warehouse or shipping and railyard. While performing the duties of this job, employees will be exposed to machinery and moving mechanical parts. This position will often be exposed to noise, hazards, airborne particulates, and temperature changes.

• This position requires the frequent use of basic hand tools
• This position requires the ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop for extended lengths of time
• The employee will be required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel, reach for tools or materials
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus used for depth perception
• Climb in and out of the machinery using vertical ladders

Position Type/Travel/Schedule

This is a full-time position (40+ Hours), and overtime work may be required as projects or job duties demand. 

Swing Shift - 4:30pm to 3:00am Monday - Thursday. possibility of being trained on day shift.
