
Job Description
Applications are invited for a full-time post-baccalaureate lab manager position in the Mental State Processing and Psychopathology lab directed by Dr. Chloe Hudson in the Department of Psychology, Clinical Science area at Virginia Tech. This position will begin in Spring or Summer of 2026. Our research focuses on how social cognition and metacognition are implicated in social functioning, psychopathology, and psychotherapy. The individual who fills this position will be involved in all aspects of the research process and duties related to launching a new research lab, including (but not limited to):
• Establishing lab infrastructure, such as study protocols and lab resources (website, manuals, standard operating procedures, documentation), and coordinating daily lab operations
• Collecting, entering, managing, and ensuring quality participant data
• Recruiting, screening, scheduling, consenting, and running participants through study protocols
• Supervising undergraduate research assistants
• Assisting with IRB management, data processing and analysis, conference presentations, and manuscript preparation
Required Qualifications
1) BA/BS in cognitive science, psychology, or related field.
2) One year of human subjects research experience.
3) Demonstrated organizational, time-management, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills; and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
1) Demonstrated ability to work with data programs (e.g., R, REDCap).
2) Experience conducting diagnostic interviews.
