Purpose:
We are currently recruiting for a Construction Director. Our team includes world-class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Markham, Ontario, in the initial phase and on-site afterwards.
Worley is seeking an experienced Construction Director / Senior Construction Professional with deep expertise in heavy industrial construction to lead construction input during the Feasibility Study phase and seamlessly transition into EPCM construction execution.
This role is critical to shaping constructability driven design, capital efficiency, and execution certainty for a major industrial development. You will work alongside world class subject matter experts and high performing project teams, providing authoritative construction leadership from early study through site execution.
Responsibilities:
Phase 1: Feasibility & Front End Development.
As the construction lead during the feasibility phase, you will be accountable for ensuring the project is execution ready, constructible, and optimized for capital efficiency.
- Develop a forward looking EPCM construction execution strategy to support feasibility and future delivery.
- Lead and participate in constructability reviews at all stage gate milestones.
- Participate in design reviews, including risk identification and mitigation.
- Review and influence surface and subsurface infrastructure designs, including modularization strategies, to support minimum viable capital cost.
- Develop temporary construction facilities and logistics.
- Develop integrated construction schedules in collaboration with engineering, procurement, estimating, and client stakeholders.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of CAPEX, SUSEX, and OPEX estimates at the required feasibility accuracy levels.
- Support procurement and contracting strategies in coordination with Supply Chain.
- Liaise with client operations teams to validate execution assumptions and construction methodologies.
- Participate in client, project, and internal governance meetings as the senior construction representative.
- Support the development of feasibility level execution plans, reports, and Final Study documentation.
- Contribute to Worley proposals, estimates, and organizational planning, supporting Worley’s positioning as the EPCM partner of choice.
- Ensure compliance with company, client, and confidentiality requirements, maintaining Worley’s professional reputation with all stakeholders.
Phase 2: EPCM Construction Execution
Upon transition to EPCM execution, you will assume full accountability for site construction management and delivery.
- Act as Worley’s senior on site construction representative, liaising with the client, subcontractors, JV partners, and local authorities.
- Lead construction execution in accordance with contract requirements, approved schedules, budgets, and execution plans.
- Develop the Construction Management organization structure, staffing plans, and mobilization schedule using standardized role definitions.
- Direct and monitor day to day construction activities through structured progress reviews (weekly, monthly, quarterly).
- Identify schedule risks, slippages, and productivity issues, implementing recovery and mitigation plans.
- Ensure strict adherence to project and corporate HSE standards, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems, including implementation of ITPs and internal quality audits.
- Lead Management of Change (MOC) processes for all scope, cost, and schedule impacts.
- Support subcontractors and vendors by removing execution barriers and ensuring alignment of engineering deliverables, materials, tools, and resources.
- Ensure full participation of construction personnel in model reviews, constructability workshops, and execution planning sessions.
- Oversee temporary facilities, site services, and employee well-being (accommodation, transport, permits, visas where applicable).
- Develop and execute the Construction Execution Plan, contributing to contracting strategy, field budgets, and schedules.
- Implement standardized construction systems and procedures, adapting them as required for project-specific needs.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative site culture, emphasizing role clarity, accountability, and teamwork.
- Develop construction personnel succession plans, ensuring deputies are trained for coverage and progression.
- Establish and monitor construction-specific KPIs for quality, safety, productivity, and leadership performance.
- Perform additional duties as required by the Project Director to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.

Technical and Industry Experience:
- Senior level leadership experience on major industrial construction projects.
- Experience across surface and subsurface infrastructure.
- Strong understanding of construction regulations and permitting across jurisdictions.
- Demonstrated expertise in:
- Constructability and work face planning.
- Construction execution planning and sequencing.
- Integrated scheduling and estimating.
- Willingness and ability to work at remote industrial project sites.
- Strong computer literacy (MS Office, Primavera, Excel).
- Proven HSE leadership and Quality Assurance experience.
Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Formal safety qualification relevant to industrial construction environments.
- Environmental and regulatory training applicable to heavy industrial projects.
For applicants based in the province of Ontario, the salary range is $212,346 to $212,246 CAD.
