Mesta is a global FIAT + stablecoin payment network processing transactions across 180+ countries. They are seeking a strong backend engineer to build and scale the core of their real-time transactions engine, working on integrating banking APIs and optimizing stablecoin settlement flows.
Responsibilities:
- Build and scale the core of our real-time transactions engine
- Integrate banking APIs
- Optimize stablecoin settlement flows
- Shape engineering culture and grow into a leadership role as the team scales
Requirements:
- 3–8 years of backend engineering experience building distributed systems or high-throughput platforms
- Proficiency in Node.js/NestJS or TypeScript (or similar backend stacks — Java, Go, Python)
- Strong experience with PostgreSQL, Redis, and event-driven architectures (SQS, Kafka, etc.)
- Cloud-native experience with AWS, Docker/Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Performance mindset — you instinctively profile, measure, and optimize
- Ability to design and build scalable, secure APIs (OpenAPI, OAuth2/JWT)
- Comfort with ownership and fast iteration in a startup environment
- BS/MS in Computer Science is great, but proven experience and skills matter more
- Experience with payment systems (RTP, SWIFT, SEPA, UPI, ACH)
- Blockchain familiarity (stablecoins, smart contracts, L2 networks)
- Workflow orchestration (Netflix Conductor, Temporal)
- Observability tooling (Grafana, Prometheus, NewRelic)
- Security/compliance awareness (SOC2, PCI-DSS)
