Engineering Intern - (Part-Time/Temp)

Serco offers an exciting internship opportunity in the Advanced Technologies Group (ATG), where interns will work on innovative machine learning technologies that address challenges faced by the U.S. military. Interns will collaborate with a team of research scientists and software engineers to develop and deliver solutions using AI and ML technologies.

Responsibilities:

• Be assigned a project that is significant to our ongoing contracts with the U.S. military, appropriately scoped for a summer intern. The project may be a group project with other interns
• Work with members of the AI/ML team to frame the problem, design the solution, develop the code to implement it, and test and evaluate its effectiveness. Software will likely be written in Python and/or Java
• Package and deliver software for the target environment using standard DevOps principles
• Collaborate with co-workers, leadership, and clients to understand client problems, identify solutions, and demonstrate software solutions
• Participate in internal and client-defined agile software development processes
• Write technical software documentation and explain your software design and implementation to co-workers, clients, and partners

Requirements:

• A High School Diploma/GED
• Be currently pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline from an accredited university
• Ideal candidates are rising sophomores, juniors or seniors
• Have a working knowledge of Python and/or Java
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be a strong team player who can effectively contribute to project development
• This position is contingent upon your ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Experience with, or course work in, Machine Learning / Artificial Intelligence
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and attention to detail
