Smart Food Safe is a leading cloud-based software platform focused on Food Safety and Quality Management. They are seeking a motivated Sales Development Representative (SDR) to identify and qualify prospective customers in the food manufacturing industry, engaging professionals to generate qualified opportunities for the sales team.
Responsibilities:
- Research and identify prospective customers within the food manufacturing industry, including multi-site producers across bakery, dairy, meat, protein, and other food sectors
- Engage prospects via phone, email, trade shows, LinkedIn, and other channels to initiate conversations and generate interest in Smart Food Safe’s FSQM solutions
- Conduct discovery conversations to understand prospect needs, regulatory challenges, pain points, and decision-making processes related to food safety and quality management
- Work closely with Account Executives to schedule meetings and seamlessly hand off qualified leads for deeper sales engagement
- Accurately log all prospect interactions, activities, and follow-up tasks in the CRM system to ensure data integrity and visibility
- Develop a strong understanding of Smart Food Safe’s modules, value proposition, and the broader food safety and regulatory landscape
- Provide regular updates on outreach activity, lead quality, and conversion metrics to sales leadership
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Marketing, Communications, Food Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 0–1 year of experience in sales, business development, customer-facing, or internship roles (B2B SaaS exposure is a plus)
- Strong research and organizational skills to identify and prioritize target accounts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable initiating conversations and building rapport with professionals
- High level of persistence, resilience, and willingness to learn
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to work both independently and collaboratively
- Familiarity with CRM systems is an advantage, but not required
- Interest or basic knowledge of food safety, quality systems, or regulatory frameworks (HACCP, SQF, BRCGS, FDA, USDA, etc.)
- Exposure to SaaS, technology sales, or compliance-driven industries
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to learn from performance metrics
- Strong copywriting skills to craft clear, compelling outreach messages that simplify complex FSQM concepts
