What you will be doing
As a Sales Manager at Stolt Tankers, you will be at the forefront of managing and negotiating contracts of affreightment, ensuring they meet the strategic goals set by the Global Commercial Manager. You will identify and secure spot cargoes while working on COA opportunities that align with our business strategy. Your role will involve close interaction with brokers, traders, and customers, providing in-depth market and competitor analyses, and delivering insights to aid decision-making. You'll nurture relationships with customers and third-party brokers, contributing to weekly updates on market movements and charter negotiations. This position requires a collaborative mindset, working closely with different departments to ensure seamless operations, attending industry events to promote our services, and providing exceptional customer support to enhance client satisfaction. You'll be engaged in a diverse work environment that requires strong negotiation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure while managing ad hoc projects as needed.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and negotiate Spot cargoes and COA opportunities as directed by the Trading Manager and Global Commercial Manager.
- Ensure compliance of contracts with internal policies through collaboration with relevant internal parties.
- Provide market and competitor analysis, and negotiate time charters as directed.
- Maintain and manage customer relationships and provide updates on market conditions.
- Ensure optimal charter party terms and support the commercial team in negotiations.
- Attend KPI meetings, represent the company at industry events, and resolve client inquiries promptly.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree preferred, ideally in maritime specialty.
- 2-5 years post-graduate experience, with a minimum of 2 years in Stolt Tanker Trading or shipbroker experience.
- Operations, barging, and demurrage experience preferred.
- Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with detail-oriented focus.
- Proficiency in computer use, particularly MS Office.
