Role Summary
The Legal Counsel will be responsible for handling all corporate legal matters, ensuring statutory compliance under Indian laws, and providing legal support to business operations. The role partners closely with internal stakeholders and external advisors to manage legal risks and enable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Employment Law
- Advise on employment contracts, HR policies, terminations and employee disputes.
- Provide guidance on labour law compliance.
- Draft and review employment-related documentation.
- Monitor regulatory developments and recommend updates.
Data Privacy & Protection
- Advise on Indian data protection laws and compliance requirements.
- Review and draft privacy policies, data processing agreements and vendor contracts.
- Support internal teams on privacy compliance.
Contracts & Commercial Matters
- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, including:
- Service agreements
- Vendor agreements
- Independent contractor agreements
- MoUs and NDAs
- Risk assessment and mitigation measures during contract negotiations.
- Standardize and streamline contract templates.
Regulatory & General Advisory
- Provide day-to-day legal advisory support to business stakeholders.
- Provide advisory for new and expansion of existing businesses.
- Organise and conduct internal training sessions on employment law, privacy and other relevant topics.
- Assist in developing internal legal policies.
- Identify regulatory gaps and implement corrective action plan.
- Support regulatory registrations, licenses and approvals.
- Engage with external counsel and consultants, as required.
Qualifications & Experience
- LLB from a recognized Indian university.
- 6-9 years relevant post-qualification experience in law firms or in-house legal teams.
- Experience in employment and privacy law matters is preferred.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple matters simultaneously.
