ATEC Water Systems specializes in providing scalable, reliable and cost-effective water treatment solutions for water utilities. They are seeking a skilled Sales & Business Development Expert to drive sales growth and develop relationships within the North American water utility market.
Responsibilities:
- Drive strong sales growth through market penetration, expansion, and execution of defined growth plans
- Create and execute actionable sales plans that meet or exceed quarterly and annual goals
- Maintain urgency in closing deals while continually qualifying and developing new leads to ensure consistent order flow
- Build and sustain a healthy funnel of opportunities through proactive outreach and daily business development activities
- Establish and strengthen relationships at all levels of target accounts and with key decision-makers and influencers
- Develop and qualify new sales leads and recruit, onboard, and support new channel partners
- Manage regional channel partners by providing training, coaching, and performance oversight to achieve territory goals
- Demonstrate technical sales competence by translating ATEC treatment system capabilities into complete solutions in collaboration with Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Aftermarket Sales, and Field Service teams
- Review and negotiate terms of sale in coordination with company leadership
- Close existing projects and support ongoing opportunities within the assigned territory
- Monitor and communicate market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to company leadership
- Provide actionable market intelligence to inform product enhancements and strategic direction
- Leverage CRM and Sales Intelligence systems to manage opportunities, contacts, and forecasts
- Generate accurate quarterly forecasts for orders and revenues
Requirements:
- Competitive, persistent, and confident with strong drive to exceed sales goals
- 3+ years of professional sales experience in the water utility industry (all experience levels considered)
- Strong business acumen and ability to contribute quickly
- Relationship-driven, consultative sales approach with solution-selling capability
- Ability to quickly learn products, processes, and customer purchasing drivers
- High accountability and ownership of regional sales performance
- Experience leading and motivating third-party sales channels and manufacturers' representatives
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, CRM systems, and AI tools to support sales activities
- Ability to travel 30%+ for business development and sales
- Ability to present at regional and local AWWA, WEF, and other industry conferences
- Water treatment sales experience, particularly pressure filtration and/or adsorption systems
- Wastewater treatment experience, especially activated sludge optimization or intensification
- Established relationships in the municipal water utility market (industrial markets a plus)
- Existing network with investor-owned utilities, consulting engineers, or manufacturers' representatives—particularly in the Midwest, Eastern U.S., or Canada
- Residence in the Midwest or Eastern U.S./Canada near a major airport
- Bachelor's degree in civil or chemical engineering with water treatment coursework
- Graduate degree in business administration, engineering management, or water treatment
- Water operations certification
- Experience in product management, key accounts, marketing, or strategic planning
