Goodwill Industries International, Inc. (GII) is executing an ambitious strategic plan to support a network of nearly 150 Goodwill organizations across North America, and the Project Manager is responsible for driving high‑priority, enterprise‑level initiatives to turn this strategy into action. This role leads planning, execution, and delivery of priority projects focused on workforce development, retail and donated goods, and environmental stewardship.
Responsibilities:
- Lead multiple priority initiatives aligned with GII’s strategic plan, from initiation through completion
- Own project outcomes, timelines,& deliverables; proactively address risks, barriers & dependencies
- Serve as the primary driver of work, ensuring progress even in complex, matrixed environments
- Apply GII’s New Product Development (NPD) process with rigor and consistency across projects
- Develop and maintain project charters, workplans, schedules, and resource plans
- Establish clear milestones, success measures, and decision points
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed to ensure successful delivery
- Ensure disciplined change management, issue resolution, and documentation
- Partner closely with internal teams and Goodwill members to align objectives, roles, & expectations
- Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, and decision forums
- Provide clear, concise, and audience appropriate status updates to senior leaders & stakeholders
- Drive accountability by clarifying next steps, owners, and timelines
- Supervise and coach the Project Administrator, delegating logistical and administrative tasks
- Ensure effective use of project tools, templates, and documentation
- Foster a results-oriented, collaborative project environment with other leaders
- Identify opportunities to improve project management practices, tools, and routines
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to organizational knowledge and capability building
- Support broader enterprise initiatives as needed to advance GII’s mission and strategy
Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree in business, organizational development, social/human services, or a related field
- Five (5) or more years of project management experience
- Strong project management expertise with the ability to lead complex, cross-functional initiatives
- Demonstrated ability to drive work forward, make decisions, and hold teams accountable for results
- Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong written, verbal, and facilitation skills for diverse and senior audiences
- Ability to influence without authority in a matrixed environment
- Familiarity with key project management software, tools, or similar stage-gate processes
- Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools
- PMP certification or like project manager certification
- Demonstrated success leading multiple complex projects simultaneously in fast-paced environments
- Proven ability to drive execution, manage ambiguity, and deliver results in a matrixed organization
- Experience applying disciplined methodologies to new initiatives or product development
- Demonstrated experience using project management software to plan, track, and report on complex projects, including managing schedules, dependencies, risks, and deliverables across cross-functional teams
