GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Our mission at the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV) is to serve, protect and advance the citizens and industries in the state with quality motor vehicle related services. We are a dynamic state agency dedicated to customer service, consumer protection and the success of motor vehicle-related industries.
Performs routine (journey-level) consultative services and technical assistance work for the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles (TxDMV), Motor Vehicle Division (MVD). Work involves assisting with implementing and supporting MVD’s metal plate and sticker program and providing consultative services and technical assistance to program staff and the public. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Interprets and applies Texas statutes and TxDMV Board rules related to metal plates and stickers issued to MVD license holders.
Serves as primary customer service point of contact for license holders, external customers, and internal TxDMV staff. Researches information needed for inquiries and responds to the customer via telephone or email with courtesy and professionalism.
Monitors and updates MVD’s eLICENSING system and other databases to accurately reflect information submitted and status of metal license plates and stickers issued by MVD.
Collaborates with TxDMV’s Information Technology staff to research and resolve technical problems and data related to metal plates and stickers issued by MVD.
Retrieves metal plates and stickers when delivered to HQ and enters information into MVD’s plates database system. Serves as MVD Plates Program’s point of contact with TxDMV Finance and Operation Division’s Mail Services team.
Serves as point of contact for processing metal plates returned to TxDMV by license holders or by U.S. Mail or delivery services. Processes returned metal dealer plates, stickers, and related documents according to established procedures and Texas statutes and TxDMV Board rules.
May collaborate with other TxDMV divisions on plate returns.
Serves as point of contact for processing applications submitted to cancel MVD-issued license plates.
Researches and collects information for reports or other needs and assists with special projects.
May travel up to 5% of the time. Travels by car (may include flying). May include overnight travel. May require working extended hours and some evenings and weekends, as needed.
Required to attend work regularly and adheres to approved work hours in accordance with department policies and procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of statutes, administrative rules, and agency policies related to the program area; knowledge of operations and customer service techniques.
Skill in the use of a computer and applicable software including Microsoft Office suite; skill in customer service and providing accurate, timely information to internal and external customers; skill in multi-tasking and organizing tasks; skill in noticing details.
Ability to gather, correlate, and analyze information; ability to interpret policies and procedures; ability to communicate effectively; ability to set work priorities; ability to stay focused in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; ability to collaborate with a team effectively.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum Experience:
Minimum two (2) years’ experience in fulfillment or delivery of goods; supply chain or logistics functions; mailroom or courier services; or the motor vehicle industry, specifically in titles or registration or motor vehicle industry licenses; and
Minimum two (2) years’ experience working in a professional office setting in an administrative capacity required.
Preferred Experience:
Graduation from an accredited two- or four-year college or university with major course work in a field relevant to the assignment is generally preferred. Major course work includes, but is not limited to, the following fields: Business Administration, Public Administration, English (writing skills), and/or Communication.
Previous experience working with a regulated profession strongly preferred.
Previous experience working with Salesforce-based, customer relationship management, license application processing, or inventory management databases strongly preferred.
Substitution Note: Education may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis. Major coursework includes, but is not limited to, the following fields: Business Administration, Public Administration, English (writing skills), and/or Communication.
Licensure and/or Certification: If driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.

REGISTRATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSURE
A valid Class "C" driver's license is required. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver's License within ninety (90) days after entering Texas as a new resident. A satisfactory driving record is required for operating state or personal vehicles to conduct department business.
