Assist the Civil Rights Division Administrator for internal programs in administering VDOT statewide Equal Employment Opportunity program. Responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the agency Affirmative Action Plan. Serve as the agency Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 Coordinator. Support the Civil Rights program by coordinating assigned programs to ensure projects and activities are conducted in compliance with applicable guidelines.
How you will contribute:
Civil Rights Division Support: Provide weekly report. Ensure the Assistant Division Administrator is informed of issues as they occur. Participate in staff meetings. Brief civil rights staff on training attended.
Complaint Investigation: Investigate discrimination complaints within established timeframes. Ensure appropriate recommendation for solution is made based on applicable law, regulation and policy. Coordinate district complaint investigation for Assistant Division Administrator review and approval. Conduct follow-up with district. Ensure timely response to external enforcement agency. Assist the Assistant Division Administrator in responding to Office of the Attorney General for civil action filed against the agency. Ensure accurate and current information is maintained for civil rights.
Coordinator of 505 and ADA: Update the Title I section of the agency 504 and Americans with Disability Act plan. Update all instructed policy. Develop training on Americans with Disabilities Act and co-facilitate training for Division Civil Rights Manager and Human Resource Manager.
Training: Conduct prevention of Sexual Harassment training monthly for Central Office and district offices as requested. Assist supervisor, personnel and employees with Equal Employment Opportunity issues through informal mediation.

Additional Considerations:
A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Administration, Public Administration, Human Resource Management or related field desired.
Experience interpreting and applying the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Experience working with Equal Employment Opportunity.
