Electrical Engineering Summer Student (4-Month Term)
The Summer Student – Electrical & Controls will support the Electrical and Controls Engineering team with drafting, documentation, and hands-on technical work related to HVAC equipment. This role provides practical exposure to electrical design, controls systems, and manufacturing processes while contributing to production deliverables and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is ideal for an engineering or technologist student seeking hands-on experience in electrical systems and controls within a manufacturing environment.
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include:
• Assist with electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring documentation.
• Develop and maintain input/output (I/O) lists for controls systems.
• Support preparation and review of electrical and controls documentation.
• Contribute to standardization of templates and order verification tools.
• Assist in developing electrical and controls work instructions for production.
• Support job reviews to verify scope and documentation accuracy.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to engineering processes.
• Assist with testing and verification of electrical and controls components.
• Support troubleshooting and validation activities under engineering guidance.
• Assist with R&D component organization and documentation.
• Work cross-functionally with engineering, production, quality, and supply chain teams.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
• Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or a related program.
• Basic understanding of electrical circuits and control systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical) is an asset.
• Interest in HVAC, automation, or industrial electrical systems is preferred.
• Comfortable working safely with electrical components and tools.
