Life at Pritchard:
Life at Pritchard is defined by a high-velocity, entrepreneurial culture where impact is visible from day one. Because we operate with a lean, agile team, you aren’t just a cog in a machine: you are an essential driver of an infrastructure that keeps thousands of facilities running across the country. We value "player-coaches" who can pivot from high-level boardroom strategy to the tactical "grit" of field operations without missing a beat. It is a place for those who find satisfaction in solving complex puzzles, such as keeping 800 decentralized assets in constant motion, and who thrive in an environment where autonomy is earned and results are celebrated. At Pritchard, we don't just manage services; we build the systems that make them possible, offering our team members the rare opportunity to see their strategic decisions play out in real-time on the road and at the job site.
Position Summary
Pritchard Industries is seeking an experienced Director, Fleet Management, to oversee the strategy, operations and performance of our company’s vehicle fleet. This role will report to the SVP, Supply Chain and be responsible for managing the relationship with our fleet management company (FMC) and Pritchard’s Operational staff to ensure cost-effective and efficient fleet operations.
The Director of Fleet Management oversees a mission-critical infrastructure that powers thousands of facility service contracts across several states. With a fleet comprised of 600+ light to medium duty assets and approximately 200 trailers/equipment, the role focuses on high-utilization, decentralized mobile workforces where "uptime" directly equals "service delivery." This is a high-impact leadership role that requires a unique professional duality: you must provide the strategic oversight necessary to present to the C-suite and align fleet goals with corporate EBITDA, while simultaneously maintaining the tactical involvement required of a lean team. You are as comfortable negotiating a multi-million-dollar OEM contract as you are diving into the weeds of a specific vehicle upfit or a localized maintenance bottleneck.
Key Responsibilities
I. Program Management:
Act as the primary point of contact for the FMC, internal Operations, and any other third parties required to deliver a best-in-class fleet management program.
Oversee contract performance, ensuring the FMC meets service level agreements (SLAs) and operational targets.
Develop and execute strategies to optimize all FMC services, including but not limited to vehicle acquisition, fuel management, maintenance, telematics, vehicle remarketing, and toll program.
Conduct regular performance reviews and identify opportunities for improvement.
II. Tactical Execution & Lean Operations
Act as a "player-coach," managing the day-to-day tactical needs of 800 assets with a lean support structure.
Get "under the hood" of fleet operations: troubleshoot registration delays, oversee specific upfitting for specialized service lines, and resolve immediate field issues.
III. Maintenance and Safety:
Ensure vehicles are maintained according to company standards and regulatory requirements.
Drive compliance of required maintenance schedules for all vehicles
Ensure all vehicles meet safety and compliance standards at all times.
Oversee DOT and FMCSA compliance across a multi-state footprint, ensuring every "rolling billboard" meets safety and regulatory standards.
IV. Cost Control and Budgeting:
Track and analyze fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and other expenses to identify trends and opportunities for savings.
Develop and manage the fleet budget, including fuel costs, maintenance, and insurance.
Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.
Lead the transition from a fragmented vehicle list to a standardized, highly efficient corporate fleet identity.
V. Compliance, Reporting & Sustainability:
Prepare and present regular reports on fleet performance, costs, and operational compliance against fleet policy
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of fleet activities, including vehicle registrations, maintenance records, and driver logs.
Baseline current environmental impact and implement strategies to improve sustainability
