Trek AI is an AI-powered educational platform designed to serve as an on-demand tutor for students and a teaching assistant for faculty. They are seeking a Principal Product Manager who will lead product initiatives from vision through delivery, shaping the product roadmap and mentoring emerging PM talent.
Responsibilities:
- Own and drive major product bets aligned with Trek’s mission of transparent, ethical AI in education
- Partner with the CPO to define multi-quarter roadmap priorities, making tradeoffs explicit and defensible
- Lead market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities before they become obvious
- Define success metrics at the initiative level and build feedback loops that keep strategy honest
- Lead continuous discovery with teachers, administrators, and students across Trek’s school tenants
- Synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals into clear product direction—not just reports
- Build and maintain deep institutional knowledge of how K–12 educators work, decide, and adopt tools
- Represent the customer voice in every major product decision, even when it’s inconvenient
- Author best-in-class PRDs that engineering and design can execute against with confidence
- Navigate technical complexity—understand schema design, multi-tenant architecture, and AI/ML tradeoffs well enough to make real calls
- Drive scope decisions with conviction, protecting quality without losing velocity
- Set the execution standard for the PM function through the quality of your own work
- Mentor and elevate junior PMs—invest in their craft without doing the work for them
- Partner with marketing on positioning and messaging that resonates with educators, not just buyers
- Collaborate with customer success to surface systemic problems before they become escalations
- Build the analytics infrastructure needed to make product decisions that are data-informed, not data-driven
