Walt Disney Imagineering is the creative division responsible for designing and realizing Disney theme parks and attractions. The Ride Control Systems Engineer will manage the design, development, and implementation of control systems for innovative ride experiences, ensuring safety and reliability while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities:
- Managing the entire scope of control system projects, from conception to delivery
- Conducting systems engineering for ride control systems
- Defining use cases and user needs
- Developing detailed requirements and functional specifications through documents, drawings, and models
- Ensuring compliance with safety and control standards
- Performing detailed engineering analysis and design of control strategies and algorithms
- Researching new products, technologies, and methodologies to enhance ride safety and performance
- Developing control system models, data communication architectures, and dynamic system analyses
- Collaborating closely with other engineering teams to implement control systems
- Developing implementation plans and budgets
- Creating prototypes for proof-of-concept efforts
- Leading testing efforts
- Developing test requirements
- Overseeing validation activities to ensure systems meet all safety and operational standards
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing fail-safe and safety-related control systems
- Extensive knowledge of control processors, communication networks, and industrial control system installation and commissioning
- Solid understanding of communication protocols such as TCP/IP, CAN, serial, ProfiNET, Ethernet/IP, and EtherCAT
- Proficiency in requirements management, test planning, and execution
- Familiarity with functional safety standards including IEC 61508, IEC 62061, and ISO 13849
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field from an accredited university
- Preference for Electrical Engineering
- Experience with engineering design tools like AutoCAD, Matlab, Simulink, and SolidWorks
- Knowledge of automation systems from Rockwell and Siemens
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally for periods ranging from one week to three years
- Strong technical writing skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously
