About the Role
Product Managers are tech-savvy pioneers, with one eye on what’s new and the other on what’s next. At Capital One Canada we start with the customer in mind and develop cutting-edge products that serve their needs. We’re all-in on the cloud and leaders in the adoption of open-source, RESTful APIs, microservices, and containers. We build our own products and release them with speed and agility.
Product Managers are dedicated problem-solvers who leverage big data, agile principles, and human insights to re-imagine the way people interact with money – creating experiences that simplify and enhance our customers’ lives.
Our Data Product Managers have:
Excellent problem solving and influencing skills
Thrive at the intersection of data and business strategy - able to understand complex business intent and translate strategy into data requirements that promote consistent, reusable and interoperable data consumption
Data analysis skills (e.g., SQL, Python, R) along with a high level understanding of technical patterns used to process, present, and consume data at scale (e.g., relational databases, data storage formats, spark, graphQL)
Framework driven approach to problem solving with ability to simplify technical complexity and drive well-educated business decisions across stakeholders
Exceptional cross-team collaboration; able to work across different functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done.
Highly tuned emotional intelligence, good listener, and deep seated empathy for teams and partners
Your Responsibilities:
Drive the definition, design and operationalization of data products that maximize leverage for the business and serve the needs of your internal and external customers
Own and prioritize the long-term roadmap for your product, working with a cross-functional stakeholder group balancing priorities based on impact and risk to drive winning customer outcomes.
Define OKRs for your Data Product with a metrics-driven strategy to maximize value of your product and iteratively adjust and refining roadmap based on inputs
Immerse yourself in understanding your customer(s) by employing empathy and design thinking to build a customer-backed product roadmap that that drives business value
Serve as the internal and external subject matter expert for your product and its role in Capital One’s ecosystem with accountability for owning the definition of data, including its usage and constraints
Partner closely with technology and data experts to design robust solutions, shaping the business capabilities and associated architecture necessary to drive the broader product agenda
Inspires the team to deeply understand technical opportunities to increase the speed of delivery and prioritize opportunities for reuse
Develop a robust integration strategy that demonstrates customer-based thinking to make the lives of internal and external customers easier by delivering scalable, reliable and consistently defined data solutions
Mentor and contribute to the data talent community at Capital One, empowering local and cross-functional teams to do their best work
Basic Qualifications:
At least 5+ years of Product Management experience
Experience creating and delivering customer centric, data-driven product vision and strategy
A track record of delivering results with significant business and customer impacts
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field
Masters in Business Administration (MBA)
Experience in financial services, technology or operations
6+ years of Product Management experience
