Lead Fire Protection Engineer

Jensen Hughes is a leading fire protection consulting firm renowned for its expertise in fire protection engineering. The Fire Protection Engineer role involves managing engineering design and consulting projects, conducting building and fire code reviews, and developing fire protection strategies to meet client needs.

Responsibilities:

• Management and implementation of a wide variety of engineering design and consulting projects
• Satisfy client needs and expectations by completing assigned tasks on schedule and within budget
• Coordinate and conduct building and fire code reviews and analyses, including plan reviews and site visits
• Preparation and peer review of project-related technical reports
• Develop fire protection strategies, performance-based design approaches, and alternative solutions to resolve client design issues
• Effectively communicate with project team members, clients, and others
• Assist with business development activities

Requirements:

• 5+ years of experience in code consulting, design of fire suppression and alarm systems, and developing performance-based strategies in a project design environment is required
• Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering (preferably Fire Protection), Architecture, or related field
• Experience in developing building code concepts and equivalencies, conducting building plan reviews, and conducting field reviews/inspections
• Ability to present clear and technically sound fire protection engineering strategies
• Ability to work well independently and to interact with other industry professionals, associated trades, and jurisdictional authorities
• Must be located within the following Metro Areas: Charlotte, NC, Charleston, SC, Columbia, SC, Greenville, SC, Virginia Beach, VA, Richmond, VA
• Registered Professional Engineer or other professional designation preferred
• Fire alarm & fire sprinkler design knowledge/experience is a plus
