TRC Talent Solutions is seeking a hands-on Electrical Engineer / SCADA Controls Engineer to support modernization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple manufacturing facilities. This role focuses on PLC programming, SCADA integration, database connectivity, and industrial networking within a multi-plant environment.
Responsibilities:
- Program PLCs from scratch (Siemens TIA Portal, Step7, Rockwell RSLogix 5000)
- Develop structured text and ladder logic
- Commission and troubleshoot HMI, PLCs, VFDs, and industrial drives
- Upgrade legacy Schneider Modicon systems to Siemens platforms
- Commission wall control systems via Automation PLCs
- Build SQL connections to MSSQL databases
- Write structured text code connecting PLCs to databases
- Work within OPC layer (Kepware) for data exchange
- Parse XML files for automation data ingestion
- Support migration from Oracle to MSSQL
- Integrate Palantir AI platform into plant systems
- Move OT devices from IT network to OT network
- Configure IP-addressed devices (PLCs, HMIs, drives, cameras, edge devices)
- Troubleshoot networking issues in industrial environments
- Perform basic IT troubleshooting
- Add new sensors and data points for Maintenance Reliability digitization POC
- Design and commission camera systems triggered by defect detection (lump/neck/spark-out)
- Auto-block production tags and attach images to records
- Integrate Maguire unit alarms into plant applications
- Install and commission badge scanner systems at line HMIs
- Install and commission cameras at print heads
- Support Electronic Supervisor and database migrations
- Develop and modify control system drawings using AutoCAD
- Update and maintain electrical schematics
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 5+ years of controls/automation engineering experience
- Advanced PLC programming experience (from scratch development)
- Strong proficiency with Siemens TIA Portal & Step7
- Strong proficiency with Rockwell RSLogix 5000
- Strong proficiency with SQL (MSSQL preferred)
- Strong proficiency with Python (integration scripting)
- Experience working with OPC platforms (Kepware preferred)
- AutoCAD working knowledge (modify/create control drawings)
- Strong understanding of industrial machine control systems
- Familiarity with OT networking and IP-based device configuration
- Basic IT troubleshooting capabilities
- Strong communication and customer-facing skills
- Ability to travel up to 25%
