TECHSTAFF of AZ is a growing defense technology organization expanding its U.S. presence in advanced military battery and power systems. They are seeking a Business Development Manager to drive new program growth and market adoption, focusing on building relationships, identifying opportunities, and guiding complex technical solutions through long DoD sales cycles.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and pursue new opportunities related to advanced batteries and power subsystems within the U.S. defense market
- Build relationships with DoD organizations, defense primes, and aerospace/defense OEMs
- Develop a strong sales pipeline and drive opportunities through the full capture lifecycle
- Track defense program funding, budgets, and modernization initiatives to identify viable opportunities
- Conduct customer visits to understand mission requirements and position solutions early in the acquisition process
- Represent the organization at defense industry conferences, trade shows, and technical events
- Deliver presentations and briefings that clearly communicate technical capabilities and mission value
- Provide market feedback and competitive intelligence to internal teams
- Develop working knowledge of battery technologies, power systems, charging infrastructure, ruggedization, and lifecycle support
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are technically sound and manufacturable
- Position product capabilities against competitive offerings in terms of reliability, performance, and compliance
- Contribute to responses for RFIs, RFPs, and early-stage opportunity requests (ROMs)
- Maintain pipeline and forecasting information in CRM systems
- Provide leadership with regular updates on opportunity status, forecasts, and strategic outlook
Requirements:
- 5+ years of sales or business development experience within the defense or aerospace sector
- Experience selling technical systems or subsystems to DoD organizations, prime contractors, or defense OEMs
- Familiarity with long-cycle government sales processes and capture strategies
- Bachelor's degree required; engineering background strongly preferred (EE, ME, Chemical, Materials, etc.)
- Interest in learning and communicating complex technical systems
- Ability to translate engineering capability into a clear business value proposition
- Candidates must be eligible to obtain a U.S. Secret security clearance
- Prior work with battery technologies, power systems, or energy storage solutions
- Understanding of defense acquisition and contracting processes
- Background in engineering, manufacturing, or military service
- Experience participating in proposal development and capture planning
