Tecan is a company dedicated to improving lives and health through innovative solutions in the MedTech and IVD industry. They are seeking a Business Development Manager to identify and secure new revenue opportunities while building strategic partnerships and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions for customers.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and secure new revenue opportunities in support of Tecan’s sales growth and financial objectives
- Build and maintain a robust business development pipeline within the MedTech and IVD OEM market
- Develop customer strategies and consultative engagement plans to win contract product development and electronic manufacturing services opportunities
- Lead and navigate complex MedTech/IVD sales cycles while building executive-level relationships with customers and internal stakeholders
- Partner with engineering, operations leadership, and cross-functional teams to design and propose innovative product development and manufacturing solutions
- Present Tecan’s service offerings and value proposition to prospective customers
- Develop and deliver proposals for contract product development and electronic manufacturing services
- Prospect new accounts through networking, industry groups, cold outreach, and professional relationships
- Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted go-to-market strategies and campaigns
- Participate in marketing initiatives including trade shows, conferences, and industry events
- Coordinate internal and external resources throughout the sales process to successfully close new business opportunities
- Participate in regular sales, marketing, and product strategy discussions to support business growth goals
Requirements:
- Demonstrated “hunter” sales mentality with success in developing new customers and expanding existing accounts
- Experience managing complex sales cycles including pipeline management, account planning, and strategic sales execution
- Strong consultative selling skills with the ability to understand and solve customer challenges
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and executive stakeholders
- Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple opportunities simultaneously
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong drive to win new business
- Willingness to travel approximately 40%
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (MBA preferred)
- 4+ years of experience in business development, services-based sales, or product management
- Experience in MedTech, IVD, contract product development, electronic manufacturing services, or consultative selling environments
- Knowledge of the MedTech/IVD ecosystem and OEM partnership models is highly valued
- Demonstrated track record closing complex contract development or manufacturing deals
- Extensive professional network within the MedTech or IVD industry
- Experience selling CDMO or EMS solutions
- Familiarity with consultative and strategic sales methodologies
- Experience with sales forecasting, budgeting, and pipeline planning
