Description
Responsible for providing direct services to students with disabilities ages 14-22 enrolled in the Pre-ETS program. Career coach meets with students individually or in groups, providing services in the 5 areas outlined by WIOA regulations: job exploration and counseling, work-based learning, workplace readiness, instruction in self-advocacy, and post-secondary education counseling.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Assist school personnel in identifying and prioritizing student referrals based upon needs of students, current service received, and scheduling availability.
- Obtain required documentation from schools and upload into database.
- Administer initial assessment rubric in order to determine student’s baseline in each of the 5 areas of service.
- Develop individualized plan for each student with specific goals in each of the 5 service areas.
- Provide services to students individually and/or in groups in order to assist the students in meeting their goals. Services occur in the schools and in the community as appropriate.
- Present to employers in order to develop work-based learning opportunities for students.
- Supervise students while in schools and out in the community.
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents, VR, and other service providers in order to coordinate services for students.
- Maintain a consistent schedule at each assigned school in order to ensure continuity of services.
- Document in a timely manner all services provided to students.
- Participate in IEP meetings, at request of team and as available, to assist in effective transition planning and implementation.
- Use and adapt existing curricula in order to serve the needs of students and model “best practices” to school personnel.
- For exiting students, assist in creating a student portfolio containing a resume, sample cover letter, references and other related information. Administer exit rubric in order to measure progress toward goals in the 5 areas of service.
Requirements
- Ability to plan and organize work activities/processes, use discretion and sound judgment, take initiative and demonstrate flexibility to ensure goals are achieved in a timely manner
- Ability to use strategic thinking to understand and implement changes in anticipation of events and circumstances.
- Customer service, negotiation and networking skills to establish contacts for the purpose of connecting service to persons served.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, at times outside of a typical work week.
- Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.
- Time management and problem-solving skills
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred. Extensive experience in the field may substitute for degree.
- Knowledge of WIOA regulations for Pre-ETS, transition planning.
- Experience supporting individuals with disabilities preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must have ability to lift/move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. periodically
