Overall responsibilities and duties:
The Technical Customer Interface Manager is responsible for managing the technical relationship with customers prior to and during the acquisition phase. This role aligns customer requirements with Forvia’s product strategy, leads technical aspects of the quote process, promotes Forvia’s solutions, and collaborates cross-functionally to drive acquisition success and support regional product strategy.
The main missions of the role are:
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for the Customer prior to and during the acquisition phase, ensuring alignment between customer needs and Forvia’s product roadmap and capabilities.
- Analyze and interpret customer technical specifications, providing guidance to help align them with Forvia’s current and future product offerings.
- Communicate customer technical expectations clearly and effectively to internal Innovation and Product Line Engineering teams to support solution development.
- Present and promote Forvia’s technical solutions to the Customer, articulating the value proposition and differentiators.
- Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with key customer technical stakeholders, while gathering market and competitor intelligence to support strategic planning.
- Lead the technical portion of the quote process, ensuring all customer requirements are captured and reflected accurately in the quote package.
- Coordinate across internal teams (Acquisition Management, Product Line Engineering, Operations, Purchasing) to ensure a cohesive technical response that meets customer cost and performance expectations.
- Support the development of the Product Strategy for North America Operations (NAO) by contributing customer insights and market trends.
- Drive acquisition strategy execution for NAO, helping to maximize the win rate on targeted business opportunities.
Your profile and competencies to succeed
Qualifications:
Minimum education level: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience:
- At least two years of experience in the automotive industry, with a focus on seating systems or other complex mechanical/electromechanical components.
- Proven track record interfacing directly with OEM customers on technical topics, including during acquisition and product development phases.
- Strong background in product engineering, systems engineering, or technical program management within a Tier 1 supplier environment.
- Hands-on experience leading or supporting RFQs and technical quote packages, in coordination with cross-functional teams.
- Solid understanding of OEM specifications, development processes, and launch requirements for automotive interior systems.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong technical understanding of seating systems and customer specification translation.
- Clear, concise communicator with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong OEM customer relationships.
- Strategic thinker with effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Skilled in leading cross-functional collaboration across Engineering, Sales, and Operations.
- Self-driven, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
- Familiar with technical content in RFQs.
