Position Overview

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of hands-on experience supporting or managing environmental permitting and compliance activities, and will be a detail-oriented, organized, and safety-minded individual. As Environmental Specialist, you’ll be a subject-matter expert in environmental program management, with a focus on compliance, permitting, and reporting. You’ll be part of team assisting in the development and implementation of environmental programs and ensure the compliance of activities at facilities located in WA, ID, and OR with an emphasis on regulatory compliance and navigating complex environmental regulations.
They will work well independently and with a team and be a motivated self-starter. This position will support all lines of business (aggregates, asphalt, ready-mix) for our companies in the Northwest Region.

Location: This is an in-person position based out of Eastern WA. Local commutes to pit/plant locations as needed, and potential for travel within the Northwest Region (Northern CA, WA, OR, ID) and for other opportunities, which may include up to 25% overnight travel and multi-day trips.
Shift: Primarily work 8 – 10 hours per day, 5 days per week. Occasional overtime

What You Can Do…
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science or closely related field.
2 – 4 years’ experience securing environmental permits, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting reporting duties, or closely related activities, for environmental programs such as air quality, water resources, stormwater management, water discharge procedures, spill prevention control and countermeasures, and others.
You're a self-starter who takes initiative and can work independently, driving projects to completion.
You exhibit critical thinking skills, allowing you to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
You possess nimble learning abilities, quickly grasp new concepts and applying them to your work.
You have strong organizational skills, enabling you to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
You are comfortable with ambiguity, making decisions with incomplete information.
You have excellent written and oral communication skills, conveying complex information clearly.
You have working knowledge of PC Programs and the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
A valid driver’s license, current authorization to work in the United States, and the ability to pass pre-employment controlled-substance testing.
Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
Must be willing to travel and work away from home as required. (Long day and/or overnight trips)
Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, Safety (hard toe) Shoes, and Coveralls.
Compliance with all OSHA and/or MSHA regulations.
Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to crawl, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms above their shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move anywhere up to 25 lbs. Physical agilities test may be required.
