The Senior Business Analyst in Insurance Operations serves as a strategic partner to business and technology leaders, driving operational excellence across the insurance lifecycle and mentoring junior analysts.
Responsibilities:
- Leads end-to-end analysis and redesign of complex, cross-functional workflows; owns outcomes and recommendations
- Proactively identifies systemic inefficiencies and enterprise-level operational risks
- Delivers measurable, large-scale operational improvements
- Designs current and future-state processes and builds ROI-driven business cases aligned to strategy
- Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls across functions
- Leads requirements workshops and translates complex needs into high-quality requirements
- Ensures alignment between objectives, systems, and constraints; influences prioritization
- Performs advanced analysis and presents insights influencing leadership decisions
- Acts as primary liaison and leads multi-department initiatives
- Establishes standards and reviews others’ work to ensure audit readiness
- Mentors junior analysts and develops templates and playbooks
- Supports enterprise transformation, M&A, and vendor evaluations
- Coordinates timelines and is accountable for outcomes
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, IT or equivalent related work experience
- 5 or more years of proven work experience within P&C insurance operations
- Deep understanding of underwriting, claims, policy administration, billing, and customer service workflows
- Experience mentoring or supporting junior team members
- Strong proficiency with SQL, Excel, reporting dashboards, and workflow tools
- Experience with policy admin systems, claims platforms, CRM tools, and reporting tools (e.g., Guidewire, Duck Creek, Salesforce, Power BI)
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, and presentation abilities
- Strong analytical thinking, problem‑solving, and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities (in parallel) in a fast‑paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive consensus
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team with strong accountability and time management
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and perform effectively under pressure
- Proactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders
- Maintain consistent availability during core business hours while supporting cross-time-zone collaboration when needed
- Demonstrate strong virtual communication skills using video conferencing, chat, and digital collaboration tools
- Ability to manage workload independently in a remote environment, ensuring timely delivery of analysis, requirements, and project deliverables
- Maintain a secure, private, and professional remote workspace that supports confidentiality and productivity
- CBAP or PBA certification is a plus
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, BPMN, or similar process improvement frameworks
