Assistant Project Manager - Social Media

Salas O'Brien is an employee-owned engineering and professional services firm focused on achieving impact for clients and the world. They are seeking an Assistant Project Manager for Social Media to create engaging content and manage social media channels for NYSERDA.

Responsibilities:

• Create engaging social media content including captions, posts, graphics, reels, and stories
• Ensure content aligns with brand voice while tailoring messages for different platforms
• Plan and maintain social media content calendars and schedule posts in advance
• Monitor social media trends, competitor activity, and platform changes
• Manage community engagement by responding to comments, messages, and mentions
• Track and analyze performance metrics to optimize future content
• Collaborate with internal teams to support campaigns, communications, and events
• Use social media management tools such as Sprout, Hootsuite, or Meltwater
• Develop and maintain content calendars by planning, organizing, and scheduling posts to maintain a consistent online presence (working 2–4 weeks ahead)
• Analysis and optimization

Requirements:

• BA in communications, journalism, English, or a parallel field
• 1-3 years relevant experience
• Strong writing background with the ability to draft social media content
• Ability to write in a wide range of styles: lighthearted and fun, strategic and thought leadership, event amplification, and evergreen posts of varying lengths
• Excellent writing skills and creativity
• SEO knowledge
• Social media platform knowledge
• Ability to multi-task; highly organized with the ability to prioritize and reprioritize assignments
• Exceptional follow-through; attention to detail; able to proofread their own work effectively
• Demonstrated social media writing experience (preferably for a non-profit or government entity)
• Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities
• Creativity and ability to produce engaging digital content
• Knowledge of major social platforms: Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, LinkedIn
• Basic SEO and keyword optimization knowledge
• Tools: Lytho, Meltwater, Hootsuite, Sprout, Microsoft Outlook, Word, SharePoint, OneDrive, Knowledge Base
