Penn State University is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Business Analyst to join their Information Technology team. The role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to gather and document business requirements for custom application development and web solutions, while supporting project management activities and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct stakeholder analysis to identify impacted parties, define the level of effort required to deliver effective solutions, and translating business needs into actionable user stories, process flows, and functional specifications
- Facilitate requirements elicitation through interviews, document reviews, workshops, surveys, and teleconferences
- Work closely with both internal and external clients to ensure user-friendly and accessible interfaces and partner with developers to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with business goals
- Facilitate activities such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user acceptance testing (UAT), while also performing gap analyses and documenting current and future state business processes
- Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and communicating updates to stakeholders will be key responsibilities, along with supporting post-launch analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- Experienced business analysis within ERP environments is ideal
- A strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), Salesforce, Informatica, and web technologies is essential
- Proficiency in project management tools is expected
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills
- Experience with requirements writing and technical documentation is required
- Familiarity with change control processes and quality assurance testing is beneficial
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design principles is a plus
- Basic understanding of data modeling or SQL
