The Lead Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing complex construction projects in the nuclear energy domain, managing multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
- Managing construction contracts and overseeing EPC contractor performance to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations
- Leading a team of project management and engineering professionals, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes innovation and continuous improvement
- Proactive risk management, reviewing and approving contractor invoices and purchasing documents, and analyzing project trends through earned value management reports
- Providing technical reviews for design activities, ensuring alignment with project goals and regulatory requirements
- Maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to facilitate smooth project execution
- Communicating complex project status updates effectively to senior leadership and project sponsors
- Overseeing planning and scheduling functions, developing and maintaining project controls criteria, and ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle
- Travel commitments are estimated at 25-50% to support project sites and stakeholder engagements
Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physical Science, or a related technical field is required
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in the design, construction, or operations of large-scale projects exceeding $25 million
- A minimum of five years in direct management roles leading project teams
- Extensive knowledge of managing projects within highly regulated environments such as nuclear facilities
- Proven experience working with federal agencies like DOE, NNSA, NRC, or DOD
- Demonstrate advanced expertise in program management, construction, engineering, procurement, performance assurance, and project risk management
- Ability to manage cost engineering functions and scheduling activities
- A security clearance at the Q level or the ability to obtain and maintain one is mandatory
- A master's degree
- Additional certifications such as Six Sigma, PMI PMP, or equivalent project management credentials
