Blue Water Thinking is a company dedicated to supporting Federal clients in achieving their Agency goals, particularly in healthcare transformation for veterans. The Lead Data Analyst will provide expertise in data analysis and reporting, design and maintain data pipelines, and ensure data integrity to support clinical and operational decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Primary authority for data analysis and reporting across Agile initiatives
- Designing and maintaining data pipelines, performing advanced analytics, and ensuring data integrity for clinical and operational decision-making
- Supports integration of multiple health IT systems, validates data migration fidelity, and provides actionable insights to program leadership
- Develop graphs, charts, and visualizations to communicate complex findings
- Present analytical outcomes to managers and stakeholders to guide business model adjustments and future planning
- Collect, clean, and validate large datasets from multiple VA sources
- Translate raw data into meaningful reports that support healthcare transformation goals
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data strategies with program objectives
- Support predictive modeling and trend analysis to improve veteran healthcare delivery
- Responsible for tasks such as data migration fidelity, interoperability validation, and Agile reporting cadence
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in data science, computer science, health informatics, statistics, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in data analysis or health informatics
- Minimum of 5 years working with healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC) and interoperability
- Demonstrated expertise in supporting PI Planning, backlog analysis, velocity metrics and other Agile processes
- Demonstrated experience in data visualization tools, including PowerBI and Tablueau
- Demonstrated expertise in ETL processes
- Demonstrated expertise in Clinical systems (Oracle Health, VISTA, CPRS) and terminology mapping
- Strong background in SQL, Python/R, and data governance for HIPAA-compliant environments
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate findings to non-technical audiences
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role
- Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) or Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is highly desirable
- Master's degree in health informatics, data analytics, public health, or related discipline
- Experience supporting federal healthcare programs, especially within the Department of Veterans Affairs
- Experience with machine learning models and predictive analytics in healthcare settings
