Ainsley Search Group is seeking a Business Development Manager to develop and implement a strategic growth plan for key accounts in the Eastern region within the Crop Nutrition and Mining sectors. The role involves achieving targeted sales volume and margin, managing new business development projects, and building strong relationships with key decision-makers to ensure customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive long-term strategic growth plan for two key accounts and the Eastern region within the Crop Nutrition and Mining businesses
- Accountable for achieving targeted sales volume and margin within the assigned territory
- Develop and execute strategic account plans focused on long-term, profitable growth
- Partner cross-functionally with R&D, Field Service, Operations, and Supply Chain to support account strategy
- Manage and grow the new business development project portfolio for the region and key accounts
- Build relationships with key decision-makers and influencers, ensuring strong alignment and customer satisfaction
- Maintain a deep understanding of customer organizations, industry dynamics, and market trends
- Act as a subject matter expert for key accounts and represent the business in internal and external settings
- Ensure alignment with internal business units and functional leaders to execute account strategy
- Lead internal key account reviews with executive leadership
- Set annual budgets and develop long-term planning strategies
- Facilitate strategic business reviews with key accounts, focused on growth initiatives
- Negotiate and manage contractual agreements
- Collaborate with market leadership on pricing strategies and margin targets
- Work closely with Field Service Engineers to identify and develop new business opportunities
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships, acting as a trusted advisor within the fertilizer and mining industries
- Lead or support strategic initiatives focused on growth, partnerships, and market expansion
- Leverage industry knowledge and network to drive project success
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
- Participate in safety initiatives and promote reporting of incidents and near-misses
- Domestic travel approximately 30–40%
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Sales, Marketing, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in technical or chemical sales, business development, or marketing
- Experience managing strategic or global accounts
- Proven ability to maintain and improve profitability within key accounts
- Strong analytical skills related to sales volume, revenue, margin, and growth opportunities
- Ability to develop and execute strategic market and account plans
- Experience in both commodity and specialty markets
- Experience with direct sales and distribution channels
- Prior leadership experience managing people
- Exposure to agriculture, mining, or chemical manufacturing industries
