Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence across the globe. They are seeking a Network Engineer to design and plan network communications systems, monitor network hardware operations, and implement enhancements and upgrades to the network.
Responsibilities:
- Designs and plans network communications systems
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
- Conducts testing of network design
- Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network
- Advises network users of hardware requirements, configurations, and limitations
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches, sensors, and gateways, etc
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
- Oversee the deployment of new infrastructure systems
- Perform code upgrades on network infrastructure
- Monitor infrastructure performance and health, respond to and resolve infrastructure-related incidents and outages
- Ensure proper configuration management of network configuration items
- Provide traffic engineering analysis and studies as directed by the program office; this will include such tasks as WAN optimization studies and network troubleshooting involving IP packet capture and analysis
- Troubleshoot storage replications issues, link errors, congestion, and service interruptions
- Provide customer network site surveys
- Develop and manage the execution of detailed transition plans for projects
- Provide input and detailed response plans for Risk Management
- Develop and maintain Concept of Operations documentation
- Participate in organization meetings, town halls, and similar events to integrate into the organization structure
Requirements:
- 5 years with BS/BA; 3 years with MS/MA; 0 years with PhD
- Must be a US Citizen
- Must have active Secret clearance
- Must have 8570 Certification - Security +
- Operate and maintain Big IP F5 partition to include architecture, configuration, and ongoing operational support
- Experience with the configuration and operation of Cisco and Juniper switching and routing infrastructure
- Be familiar with Department of Defense network security requirements and be able to architect, configure, and operate enterprise security appliances (e.g. load balancers) to support the connectivity of distributed enterprise applications such as data backup and application load balancing requirements across the enterprise
