Aperture Group LLC is seeking an Application Engineer I to support the development and design of electrical controls hardware and system architectures for industrial automation projects. This entry-level role focuses on building foundational skills in interpreting technical documentation and collaborating with various teams to ensure project accuracy and alignment with customer requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in preparing material take-offs and bills of materials (BOMs) for electrical controls hardware
- Support development of hardware cost estimates, device counts, and proposal documentation
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project management teams to confirm scope accuracy and technical alignment
- Review project drawings, layouts, and equipment documentation to validate scope of work
- Develop clarification questions to improve proposal accuracy and completeness
- Prepare preliminary hardware design documentation in accordance with applicable codes and customer specifications
- Utilize internal pricing and estimation tools; contribute to improvements in calculation templates and processes
- Communicate technical assumptions, questions, and design considerations clearly across departments
- Participate in occasional site visits for design review, scope verification, or customer discussions (limited travel required)
Requirements:
- Foundational knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution and load calculations
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and written specifications
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas and structured templates
- Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively in a deadline-driven environment
