The Senior Product Manager for Catalog and Merchandising will define the strategic merchandising vision for HealthEquity Marketplace, driving inventory lifecycle and expansion strategies while optimizing profitability and market differentiation.
Responsibilities:
- Define the structure and scope of Marketplace inventory
- Establish category architecture across clinical programs, referral and affiliate partnerships, and direct commerce offerings
- Establish target categories, coverage targets, and portfolio depth
- Set quality and eligibility standards that determine which offerings belong in the Marketplace
- Maintain the catalog framework and lifecycle as new categories, partners, and offerings are added over time
- Grow our inventory and assortment by identifying and onboarding new categories and partners
- Conduct ongoing landscape analysis across health and wellness categories to identify whitespace relative to member needs and spending patterns
- Develop prioritized partner and product shortlists that guide sourcing and purchasing decisions
- Work in close coordination with Purchasing and Business Development during partner evaluation and commercial discussions
- Define integration requirements and onboarding standards for new partners and offerings entering the Marketplace
- Own the full partner lifecycle from identification through launch, optimization, and termination
- Optimize inventory to maximize performance, profitability, and member relevance
- Drive the right mix of offerings to maximize profitability and market differentiation
- Build and run the catalog performance framework: scorecards, review cadence, and criteria for scaling, optimization, or removal at the category and partner level
- Develop assortment evaluation frameworks that surface coverage gaps, redundancy, and competitive whitespace across categories
- Partner with Finance to build and maintain financial models that assess revenue forecasts, offering investment, and SKU productivity to support portfolio decisions
- Translate portfolio performance into clear recommendations for Marketplace leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
- Define the standards that ensure every offering in the Marketplace is accurate and impactful
- Own taxonomy, product attribute requirements, and content standards across the full catalog
- Define and maintain the eligibility framework that classifies each offering as fully eligible, eligible with documentation, or not eligible under HSA and FSA rules
- Own the governance process that keeps eligibility determinations accurate and compliant as the catalog grows and regulatory guidance evolves
- Build the operating model and implement the tools and processes required to manage catalog inventory at scale
- Define the intake, review, and approval workflows that govern how new offerings enter and move through the catalog
- Own the inventory management process that keeps live offerings accurate, current, and synced with partners
- Define decision rights and cross-functional cadence across Product, Purchasing, Legal, Compliance, and Marketing
- Own the requirements, vendor selection, and implementation accountability for the catalog technology stack, including product information management and partner feed ingestion infrastructure
Requirements:
- 6-plus years of experience in product management, category management, ecommerce, or merchandising strategy
- Demonstrated experience building or operating in a managed marketplace, with ownership of supply quality, partner standards, and catalog governance at scale
- Direct category experience in health and wellness, or an adjacent consumer vertical, with working knowledge of category dynamics, eligibility constraints, and regulatory risk
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with a data-driven approach to evaluating category opportunities, partner performance, and portfolio decisions
- Command of structured catalog data: taxonomy design, attribute modeling, content standards, and eligibility governance across a large and growing product set
- Experience implementing catalog tooling, including product information management platforms and partner feed ingestion infrastructure
- Familiarity with HSA and FSA eligibility requirements and SIGIS/IIAS standards, including the distinction between fully eligible, LMN-required, and ineligible offerings
