Electric Power Engineers is an innovative company focused on shaping the grid of the future through advanced energy intelligence. The Power Systems Engineer III will conduct power system studies and analysis to meet regulatory compliance requirements, with a specific emphasis on generating facilities’ planning and protection system analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Perform detailed bulk power system studies using various power system software such as PSCAD, PSS/E, PSLF, TSAT, ETAP, etc
- Conduct IBR modeling: steady state, short circuit, and dynamic in PSSE
- Conduct IBR operational capability analysis: voltage/frequency ride-through assessment using PSCAD
- Perform assessments for compliance with NERC operation and planning reliability standards
- Prepare technical study reports for all studies performed
- Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives
- Process, generate and maintain data as required for other engineering related studies
- Identify training needs and present to the management as needed
- Perform other assigned duties in relation to client services and deliverables
- Ability to provide on the job training or help overseeing the work of other Power Systems Engineers and Interns
- Execute on multiple studies/tasks at any given time
- Perform complex tasks according to good engineering practice and established procedures
- Capable of autonomously and independently executing on assigned tasks
- Participate in multifunctional teams to obtain/provide input, address client comments, and perform technical studies
- Assist in developing tools, processes, and procedures that enhance engineering study completion
Requirements:
- Bachelor's (and higher) degree in Electric Engineering with an emphasis in electric power systems
- 3 - 4 years of experience as a power systems engineer
- Experience performing power system impact studies such as Steady State, Short Circuit, and Dynamic Stability
- Experience with power systems software such as PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, and TSAT
- Knowledge and experience with NERC compliance standards, and IBR modeling
- Experience automating/programing in Python
- Proven knowledge of power system
- Proven team player with the ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships
- Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal, particularly with respect to explaining technical matters
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, and analytical skills
- Capable of managing multiple tasks
- Have high standards in producing quality reports and products that he/she shall own with pride
- Strong technical report writing skills
