Microsoft is seeking a creative Network Automation Engineer to join the Azure WAN Team, focusing on designing and building networking and automation components. The role involves collaborating with partner teams to enhance user experiences and ensuring the reliability and scalability of network features.
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the design of reliable, scalable, and high-performance network features or components with guidance from other engineers
- Contributes to testing and validation of network devices, firmware, and configurations. Defines and implements test cases with existing automation tools
- Works within a team of engineers to manage network buildouts and provide instructions to data center or network site staff/technicians on how to repair, replace, and maintain physical network hardware and components deployed in production
- Assists in analyzing capacity issues and identifies network components that may need to be modified or replaced with guidance from other engineers. Provides recommended changes to hardware and/or network components to internal teams working with external partners and suppliers to improve capacity
- Supports the management of incidents across one or more workstreams by applying technical knowledge to diagnose and triage issues with guidance from other engineers. Takes notes during incidents and participates in post mortem and root cause analysis processes
- Shares information across disciplines within their feature team in a timely manner with an appropriate level of detail, and manages dependencies for their work with others
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field OR equivalent experience
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field AND 2+ years technical experience in network design, development, and automation OR equivalent experience
