Job Title: Ecommerce Architect (Shopify Plus)

Location: San Ramon, CA (Onsite)
Duration: Long Term Contract

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Ecommerce Architect with strong expertise in Shopify Plus to design, develop, and scale high-performance digital commerce solutions. This role will be responsible for defining end-to-end architecture, leading development teams, and delivering seamless, customer-centric online shopping experiences.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and cross-functional teams to gather and define e-commerce requirements

• Design and architect scalable Shopify Plus solutions across frontend, backend, and integrations

• Lead technical discovery sessions and conduct architecture audits of existing platforms

• Drive headless/composable commerce architecture using modern frameworks and APIs

• Oversee integration of third-party systems such as ERP, CMS, PIM, and marketing tools

• Ensure platform performance, scalability, security, and reliability

• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to development teams

• Conduct code reviews and enforce best practices for development and deployment

• Manage CI/CD pipelines and support DevOps best practices

• Troubleshoot complex issues and provide scalable solutions

• Stay updated with latest Shopify ecosystem trends and technologies

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience)

• 8+ years of experience in e-commerce development/architecture

• Strong experience with Shopify Plus (custom themes, apps, and integrations)

• Proficiency in:

  • HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)

  • Shopify Liquid templating

• Hands-on experience with:

  • Shopify APIs (Storefront API, Admin API, AJAX API)

  • Third-party integrations and microservices architecture

• Experience with headless or composable commerce architecture

• Strong understanding of UX/UI and responsive design

• Experience with version control systems (Git) and Agile methodologies

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms

• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

• Experience integrating Shopify with ERP, CMS, or PIM systems

• Shopify certifications or relevant e-commerce credentials

• Prior experience in technical leadership or architect roles
