TerraPower is a nuclear technology company based in Bellevue, Washington, focused on advancing global energy deployment through innovative nuclear solutions. The Nuclear Licensing Engineer will provide licensing support for the Natrium advanced reactor project, develop licensing documents, and engage with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with nuclear regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, author, and review licensing documents including sections of a Construction Permit Application or Operating License Application (e.g., Safety Analysis Report and Environmental Report)
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to prepare responses to NRC audit questions and requests for additional information
- Interface with the Licensing Team to complete licensing tasks
- Coordinate with design personnel to ensure designs and design changes meet regulatory requirements
- Prepare, review, and maintain licensing documentation in compliance with regulations and strict quality assurance standards
- Interface with technical discipline teams at TerraPower, partners, and contractors
- Review correspondence to and from regulatory agencies
- Develop licensing strategies to support project goals
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited, four-year university or equivalent experience
- Capability and willingness to adhere to strict quality assurance standards
- Demonstrated, applicable experience in nuclear licensing, or comparable field
- Familiarity with 10 CFR regulations and guidance
- Familiarity with content of 10 CFR 50 applications
- Self-Starter with ability to manage deadlines
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and Adobe Professional
- Strong communication skills
