Sunraycer is a company focused on solar and battery storage solutions, seeking a Manager of Project Finance to lead and manage project finance transaction execution. The role involves working closely with lenders and stakeholders to ensure successful financial closings and requires expertise in financial modeling and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Lead aspects of the structuring, negotiation, and closing of project-level debt, tax equity, and preferred equity transactions for solar and battery storage projects
- Serve as a point of contact with lenders, tax equity investors, and financing parties throughout the transaction process
- Coordinate with financing parties and third-party consultants on due diligence processes, including engineering, legal, insurance, and environmental reviews
- Oversee financial closing logistics including preparation of third-party consultant reports, tax equity model review, debt closing model management, and flow of funds preparation
- Assist in the negotiation of definitive documentation for debt, tax equity, and preferred equity financing structures
- Own the development and maintenance of sophisticated project finance models for solar PV and battery energy storage systems (BESS), including complex debt sizing logic, tax equity structures (partnership flip, sale-leaseback, inverted lease), and project-level returns analysis
- Build bespoke financial models that accurately reflect the terms of financing structures and transaction-specific nuances
- Provide guidance and quality control regarding model inputs, structure, and financial modeling best practices across the project finance team
- Incorporate sensitivity analysis, scenario modeling, and stress testing into project finance models to support investment decision-making
- Maintain and update financial models through construction and operations to reflect actual performance versus underwriting assumptions
- Coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders across development, legal, engineering, and corporate finance teams to support transaction execution
- Interface with external counsel, lender counsel, tax equity counsel, and independent engineers throughout the transaction lifecycle
- Provide regular updates and reporting on project finance transaction status to senior leadership and external shareholders
- Support corporate-level financial analysis and reporting, including the incorporation of project-level financial outputs into Sunraycer’s long-term corporate model
- Assist with the preparation of investment committee materials, lender presentations, and other transaction-related documents
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree a plus
- 4–6 years of experience in project finance at a renewable energy developer, infrastructure lender, tax equity investor, or financial advisory firm
- Demonstrated experience working on utility-scale solar and/or battery storage project finance transactions from origination through financial close
- Deep expertise in modeling project finance debt transactions, including construction and term loan structures, debt sizing logic, and cash flow waterfalls
- Experience modeling and structuring tax equity transactions, including partnership flip, sale-leaseback, and inverted lease structures
- Strong understanding of power markets, offtake structures (PPAs, tolling agreements, merchant exposure), and renewable energy financing markets
- Familiarity with interconnection processes, permitting, EPC contract structures, and O&M agreements, as they relate to project bankability
- Strong quantitative aptitude with an extremely high level of attention to detail and accuracy in financial modeling
- Highly proficient in MS Excel (advanced financial modeling); proficiency in MS Word and MS PowerPoint
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, transaction-driven environment where requirements and deadlines are dictated by deal closing timelines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex financial concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
