NTT DATA North America is a leading business and technology services provider, and they are seeking a Network Engineer to join their team. This role involves designing, building, and supporting the network infrastructure for the Epic ecosystem, ensuring high performance and security throughout the network.
Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and implement network infrastructure to meet Epic’s System Requirements and performance standards
- Build and support network connectivity between Epic components, including: Hyperspace clients and Citrix/VDI, Chronicles and Clarity/Caboodle servers, Interconnect, Care Everywhere, and web services
- Plan for low latency, high availability, and segmentation of Epic traffic
- Deploy and maintain load balancers (e.g., F5, Citrix ADC, HAProxy) for Epic services such as: Interconnect, Hyperspace presentation tiers, MyChart and Haiku/Canto
- Configure health checks, SSL offloading, persistence, and traffic distribution to optimize availability and user experience
- Design and enforce firewall rules to secure Epic environments, ensuring only necessary traffic is allowed (based on Epic port documentation)
- Coordinate ACLs, VLANs, and security zones to protect sensitive Epic data
- Collaborate with security teams to support network segmentation, zero trust, and intrusion detection initiatives
- Monitor network performance using tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Wireshark, NetFlow, or Epic's System Pulse)
- Troubleshoot issues related to: Latency and packet loss affecting Hyperspace or remote sessions, DNS resolution and name availability, VPN and remote access for clinical staff and third-party vendors
- Ensure QoS policies are applied appropriately for Epic traffic
- Participate in Epic go-lives, upgrades, and infrastructure migrations, ensuring that network services are validated and ready
- Support disaster recovery (DR) testing and redundant site configuration (active/passive or active/active designs)
- Document network topologies and maintain diagrams for compliance and audit purposes (e.g., HIPAA, HITRUST)
