Responsibilities:
- Support lifecycle replacement and remediation of Juniper ACX access switches that are approaching or past end of life
- Execute Layer 2 and Layer 3 configurations, supporting both L2 terminated services and L3 handoffs into core routing platforms
- Perform access network migrations, service cutovers, and device replacements as part of a prioritized lifecycle initiative
- Deliver switching configurations supporting:
- Layer 2 services
- Layer 3 services that transition traffic to core routing platforms
- Operate in environments utilizing common routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, ISIS, BGP) as required to support service movement into core routers
- Support both legacy configurations and more modern routing/switching designs where applicable
- Work closely with the newly established switching team led by Network Engineering leadership
- Partner with experienced commercial/network engineering teams that historically owned circuit builds and service activation
- Provide hands on execution support to ensure the lifecycle initiative gains momentum and delivers meaningful impact
Requirements:
- 5+ years of network engineering experience with a focus on switching and access networks
- Hands on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching in production environments
- Experience working with Juniper ACX platforms or similar service provider access devices
- Strong understanding of service provider / ISP or MSO network environments
- Ability to onboard quickly, adapt to an existing environment, and execute independently
- Experience supporting network lifecycle initiatives, refreshes, or remediation programs
- Comfortable working in environments that blend switching and routing responsibilities
- Automation experience (Python, Ansible, or similar) to support efficiency and scale, though not required
- Prior experience working in an ISP or MSO environment with large access layer footprints
- Background supporting commercial services, access aggregation, or service activation teams
