Role: Technical Writer
Location: New York City, NY (On-Site, with hybrid model)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Writer with a strong background in data center migration, infrastructure documentation, and governance processes. The ideal candidate will play a key role in creating, standardizing, and maintaining high-quality technical documentation across multiple environments (DEV, QA, PROD).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the collection, validation, and consolidation of application inventories across DEV, QA, and PROD environments
- Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOM) for applications prior to governance and Infrastructure & Operations (I&O) submission
- Create, standardize, and maintain:
- Runbooks
- System Architecture Documents
- Security Accreditation artifacts
- Prepare and document firewall rules (inbound/outbound communication flows)
- Validate provisioned infrastructure against approved architecture designs
- Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, and governance frameworks
- Collaborate with Infrastructure, Security, Architecture, and Operations teams to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance
Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Technical Writer in IT/Infrastructure projects
- Strong experience in data center migration or infrastructure transformation projects
- Hands-on experience with:
- Runbooks & SOP documentation
- Architecture documentation
- BOM creation
- Understanding of:
- Networking concepts (firewalls, ports, protocols)
- Infrastructure environments (Servers, Cloud, OS platforms)
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (Infra, Security, Ops)
- Familiarity with compliance and governance documentation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ITIL processes
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
- Knowledge of security accreditation frameworks
- Experience in enterprise-scale migration projects
