Lockheed Martin is a leading aerospace and defense company, and they are seeking an AI Research Engineer for their AI Solutions Engineering Team. The role involves designing, developing, and deploying AI-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency and solve complex analytical challenges.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy agentic AI pipelines and LLM‑powered tools that automate complex analytical and decision‑support tasks
- Engage directly with program and operations teams to identify pain points and define AI solution requirements
- Participate in all phases of the system development lifecycle—from requirements generation to integration and deployment
- Integrate LLM frameworks (e.g., LangChain, Langflow, HuggingFace, OpenAI API) with internal data sources, systems, and enterprise APIs
- Build and maintain RESTful API services to expose AI capabilities as reusable tools across teams and programs
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or other related discipline
- Proficiency in Python, including experience with ML and data libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikitlearn, TensorFlow OR PyTorch)
- Demonstrated experience building LLM-integrated applications or agentic AI pipelines (e.g., LangChain, Langflow, HuggingFace Transformers OR OpenAI API)
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs
- Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to translate ambiguous operational problems into structured technical requirements
- MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance
- Master's Degree in a related discipline (e.g., Information & Data Science, Computer Science, Systems Engineering)
- Experience working within defense manufacturing, supply chain, or quality operations
- Experience in applied research and presenting research findings to diverse audiences
- Experience with rapid prototyping and iterative development in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Experience leading or mentoring small technical teams or cross-functional working groups
- Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent process improvement background
- Active Secret clearance or higher
