Oracle is a leading company in AI and cloud solutions, and they are seeking a Sr. Director to define the future-state design strategy for OCI’s global AI and cloud infrastructure. This role involves driving innovation in facility architecture and infrastructure product development, while leading a multidisciplinary team to establish new design standards and technology roadmaps.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and lead a new OCI Data Center Design, Controls, and Power Innovation function focused on long-term infrastructure innovation and strategic technical direction
- Build and develop a world-class multidisciplinary team spanning mechanical, electrical, controls, automation, thermal, and systems design engineering
- Define organizational operating models, governance frameworks, design standards, controls philosophies, and engineering processes for hyperscale and GW-scale deployments
- Own the end-to-end strategic design vision for OCI’s next-generation data centers supporting AI workloads
- Develop scalable reference architectures for ultra-high-density deployments and future AI infrastructure demands
- Drive innovation in: Liquid cooling technologies, Advanced power architecture and distribution strategies, Energy efficiency and grid integration technologies, Power conversion, resiliency, and energy optimization systems, Modular and prefabricated infrastructure systems, Sustainable and low-carbon design approaches
- Create long-range infrastructure and power innovation technology roadmaps aligned with OCI growth objectives
- Lead evaluation, selection, qualification, and development of critical infrastructure technologies
- Define standards for integrated controls architectures across mechanical, electrical, cooling, monitoring, and energy management systems
- Partner with strategic suppliers and engineering teams to influence next-generation infrastructure, controls, and power technologies
- Drive development of proprietary or differentiated infrastructure management capabilities where strategic advantage exists
- Evaluate emerging technologies and lead proof-of-concept initiatives for future infrastructure innovation and autonomous operations
- Partner closely with capacity planning, site selection, construction, operations, networking, hardware engineering, security
- Ensure design scalability, operational reliability, resiliency, observability, and automation readiness across global deployments
- Drive operational consistency through standardized controls integration, commissioning strategies, and lifecycle management practices
- Support global expansion initiatives and regional infrastructure adaptation strategies
- Influence capital planning and infrastructure investment strategies through technical innovation, operational efficiency, and lifecycle optimization
- Represent OCI externally with strategic partners, industry organizations, and technical forums
- Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies across hyperscale infrastructure, controls systems, cooling, automation, power innovation, and energy management
- Drive a culture of innovation, engineering rigor, operational excellence, and automation-first design thinking
Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in hyperscale data center infrastructure, critical facilities engineering, controls engineering, power systems, or cloud infrastructure design
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Data Center Engineering, or related field required; advanced degree preferred
- 15+ years of experience in hyperscale data center infrastructure, critical facilities engineering, controls engineering, power systems, or cloud infrastructure design
- 8+ years of leadership experience building and scaling high-performing engineering or infrastructure organizations
- Deep expertise in hyperscale data center design, including: High-density compute infrastructure, Liquid cooling architectures, Advanced power infrastructure and energy systems, Critical power and thermal systems, AI/HPC infrastructure environments
- Demonstrated experience leading large-scale infrastructure innovation initiatives from concept through deployment
- Strong understanding of infrastructure economics, controls integration, scalability, reliability, observability, sustainability, and energy strategy considerations
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment in highly complex environments
- Excellent communication, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership capabilities
- Experience designing infrastructure for AI supercomputing or GPU-intensive environments
- Familiarity with next-generation energy systems, autonomous operations, machine learning-driven infrastructure optimization, and digital twin technologies
- Experience developing global design and controls standards for hyperscale cloud providers or large-scale colocation operators
- Track record of driving industry-first infrastructure, power, and automation innovations
