Flagstar Bank is seeking an Operations Business Analyst Lead to enhance operational efficiency and support regulatory compliance. The role involves analyzing banking operations, collaborating with stakeholders, and implementing new systems and processes to drive improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze end-to-end banking operations (e.g., payments, deposits, loans, treasury services) to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities
- Partner with internal stakeholders (Operations, IT, Risk, Compliance, Product) to gather, document, and validate business requirements
- Translate business needs into clear and actionable functional specifications, process flows, and use cases
- Leads the implementation of new systems, technologies, and processes, ensuring alignment with business goals and compliance standards
- Conducts gap analyses and risk assessments to evaluate the operational impact of proposed changes or regulatory updates
- Lead or support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities, including test planning, execution, and issue tracking
- Uses independent judgement and discretion to make decisions keeping risk mitigation and client impact in mind
- Performs special projects, and additional duties and responsibilities as required
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in banking operations
- Consistently adheres to regulatory and compliance policies and standards linked to the job as listed and complete required compliance trainings. Accountable to maintain compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations
- Understanding of Project Management Lifecycle and terminology
Requirements:
- Education level required: High School / High School Equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) / Foreign Equivalent
- Minimum of 7+ years of experience as a Business Analyst within the banking or financial services industry, specifically in operational functions
- Strong knowledge of banking operations and supporting systems (core banking platforms, digital banking, payments processing, etc.)
- Proven ability to gather and document complex business requirements and translate them into clear technical specifications
- Proficient in process mapping tools and methodologies (e.g., BPMN, Visio) and data analysis tools (Excel, SQL, BI platforms)
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of cross-functional collaboration
- Experience with regulatory compliance initiatives (e.g., KYC/AML, Basel, SOX)
- Familiarity with Agile or hybrid project management environments
- Professional certifications such as CBAP, PMI-PBA, or Lean Six Sigma are a plus
