Nutrient is revolutionizing how the world works with documents through intelligent workflow solutions. The Workflow Automation Engineer will collaborate with customers to transform their manual processes into efficient automated solutions on the Nutrient platform.
Responsibilities:
- Configure and build end-to-end workflow automation solutions for customers across industries, translating business requirements into reliable, production-ready implementations on the Nutrient platform
- Collaborate directly with customers through requirements gathering, solution design, and iterative feedback — guiding them through the full delivery lifecycle with clarity and confidence
- Apply AI and LLM capabilities where they add real value — whether that's intelligent document processing, AI-assisted routing, or integrating with external AI services via API
- Design and implement system integrations using REST and SOAP/XML APIs, handling authentication (OAuth, API keys, tokens), data transformation, and edge-case error handling
- Troubleshoot and resolve integration and workflow issues efficiently, with an eye toward root cause rather than just symptoms
- Document your work clearly: integration designs, configuration decisions, and anything a future engineer (or customer admin) would need to understand and maintain the solution
- Surface patterns and improvements from your customer work and feed them back into the team to create better processes, reusable components, product feedback
Requirements:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience delivering workflow, BPM, or integration solutions in a customer-facing or consulting context
- Solid web technology skills: JavaScript, HTML, JSON; comfortable reading and writing the kind of code that makes integrations work
- Experience building and consuming REST APIs and/or SOAP/XML web services, including authentication patterns and data transformation
- Working knowledge of SQL: enough to query, filter, and troubleshoot data issues without hand-holding
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration patterns — experience calling LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, etc.), working with AI-assisted document processing (OCR, extraction, classification), or embedding AI-driven decision logic into automated workflows. Hands-on experimentation and self-taught experience counts. We care that you've gotten your hands dirty with this
- Comfort working directly with customers: you know how to ask the right questions, manage expectations, and keep a project moving without being pushy
- Bonus: Familiarity with BPM concepts and working with clients in highly-regulated environments
- Bonus: Experience with Git/GitHub for version control — you won't be committing code daily, but being comfortable with a PR workflow and issue tracking in Jira goes a long way on this team
- Bonus: Direct experience with Nutrient Workflow, Integrify, or other workflow platforms
