Assists Dietitians in Food Service. Provides direct and indirect patient care as determined/delegated by a Registered Dietitian (RD). The care provided is commonly routine, i.e., delivering and picking up patient menus, assisting patients with menu selections and editing menus according to the diet prescription. Processes diet changes from nursing services and maintains census record. Checks accuracy of patient trays. Modifies menus based on patients food patterns, tolerances, and preferences
- Organize meal tickets in a timely fashion to provide accurate meals to patients and to minimize late trays.
- Takes patient menu orders and records patient preferences and allergies in patient's nutrition record.
- Provides feedback from patients needing nutritional intervention to the Dietitian.
- Checks tray line accurately. Makes decisions about quality and appropriateness of all menu items.
- Communicates with employees, patients and visitors placing priority on customer satisfaction.
- May maintain all diet office supplies and completes pertinent records and forms.
- May assist Dietitian with screening, patient intervention, and patient education.
- Other related job tasks or responsibilities as assigned
- Special Skills
- Ability to read in English to follow oral and/or written instructions.
- Ability to prioritize work.
- Must have good customer service skills.
- Bilingual preferred.
- Minimum Requirements
- Education: High school graduate or GED equivalent
- Licensure/Certifications: An unexpired Maricopa County Food Handler Care; or a valid card or certificate issued by an ANSI-accredited food handler training program; or a valid food handler card or certificate issued by another county within Arizona.

- Education: Nutrition courses
- Experience: Six months in dietary in a Healthcare setting
